Victorian Christmas in Tolland
A weekend of Christmas Nostalgia
On Sunday, December 8th from 11 – 2, start your holiday season with a visit to the Hicks - Stearns Museum for a glimpse of how Christmas was celebrated in a bygone era.
In this season of giving, the non-profit Museum will not be charging an admission. Donations appreciated.
The Victorians approached Christmas with keen enjoyment and zest. Visit and discover why there is a sawdust pie by the elegant dining room table, pillowcases strung across the library and a spider web of yarn in our formal parlour.
Period decorations add to the festive mood along with delicious refreshments.
Shop in our gift store for a large variety of very affordable (cash and check only) ornaments, votives, pillows, decorations, stocking stuffers and more, while Christmas music dances through the air.
On Sunday, December 8th, musical entertainment will be provided by The Vernon Chorale from 12:30 – 1:30.
There will be crafts for children on both days.
The Museum is located at 42 Tolland Green, exit 68 off I-84 east and west. For more information, please call 860-875-7552. Hicksmuseum42@yahoo.com.
